About CBT Worldwide

In the early 90's, as financial markets were becoming more complex, on a global scale, the financial services industry was going through major restructuring. The need for broader and deeper knowledge was never greater, nor were the demands on employees' time and training budgets. Dr. R. Philip Giles, a leading educator on financial markets, recognized the need among the financial sector and firms serving it for flexible, yet comprehensive training. He founded CBT Worldwide in 1995 to meet these needs. Today, leading financial services providers and the professionals who support them are choosing CBT Worldwide courses.

One of the foremost financial markets instructors in the country, Dr. Giles has lectured on financial markets and banking topics at universities and leading multinational organizations, including Bank of China, Brown Brothers Harriman, Mortgage Bankers Association , RBS Greenwich Capital, Moody’s Investor Services, JP Morgan Chase, Calyon and Wachovia.

University appointments include

• Columbia Business School, Adjunct Professor in Finance and Economics since 1982 teaching second-year MBA/EMBA courses including “Debt Markets,” “Money Markets: Domestic and International,” “Portfolio Management of Financial Institutions” and “Capital Markets and Investments.”
• Helsinki School of Economics, Visiting Professor in Banking, teaching Banking Management in the EMBA program.
• Sun Yet Sen University, Visiting Professor in Capital Markets
• Columbia-Berkeley Global EMBA program in Finance and Economics

Also at Columbia, he has lectured at the Knight-Bagehot Executive Program for journalists.

Dr. Giles earned his Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University.
